We are looking to hire a BU Head of Ocean Freight – Manager a person to be responsible for monitoring and guiding customers in the import / export sea process , providing logistics solutions aimed at reducing the time and cost, aiming operational excellence through good service, professionalism and commitment in order to gain credibility in our services, aiming at the satisfaction and retention of customers and new business expansion. He/she will work closely with the BUM, Local Head of Sales, and Products Air, Sea and O&G, under the direct management of the BU Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure execution of Regional and Global Ocean Freight strategy in the Business Unit Ocean Freight organization
  • Drive effective and future-oriented resource planning in the BU Ocean Freight organization, in line with productivity targets: place the right people into the right roles and hire talent with the right skills to make a career, not only to fill current vacancies
  • Effectively manage the performance of the BU Ocean Freight teams, coach and support the team leaders as necessary
  • Drive change management in the BU Ocean Freight organization
  • Escalate quality / performance issues to Country Ocean Freight when necessary
  • Update and support rolling forecast estimates on a monthly basis
  • Monitor performance against annually agreed Product KPI’s and initiate corrective actions
  • Ensure strict adherence to the Panalpina Code of Conduct

Standards & Governance

  • Track and ensure adherence to Corporate sales policies, guidelines and standards in the BU, and coordinate and manage timely and efficient implementation of changes;
  • Ensure adherence to data quality standards;
  • Ensure full compliance by all CS functions on structure requirements & CS processes as defined by BUM and Head of Products;
  • Develop and implement performance reporting to measure and track BU operational performance;

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of ocean freight experience either on the forwarder or carrier side;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in people management and leadership, including recruitment, training & development, coaching, conflict and performance management;
  • Good knowledge of the ocean freight industry;
  • Knowledge of Panalpina’s strategy and products;
  • Knowledge of markets (customers, competitors, suppliers, overall environment)

Language

  • Fluent in Country local language is preferred (written and spoken)
  • Fluent in English is mandatory (written and spoken)
  • Other languages (written and spoken) a plus
